The Idea - Our Promise
The concept of recording online and sharing files/sessions is by no means new. This is a standard on many sessions I do, but has been with all other instruments except drums. As I have talked to many artists, producers, and writers, one of their main concerns in a session is getting a great drum track that sounds fantastic. It was also having a player play the song and come up with great ideas for this song. With these expectations comes the elements of time, money and schedules.
This is where Jayzdrumz comes in. I have partnered with my friend Brad Prosko to offer a service that is necessary in the music business, and it won’t cost you a fortune. Brad is a fantastic engineer/producer/musician that demands quality from his music. The projects he has been involved with have won numerous awards, and have been played on radio nationally and internationally.
With several credits on top ten and number one songs on Canadian radio, I have had the good fortune of playing some great music. My philosophy behind playing music is to get inside the song and support the vocal and melody to the best of my ability. With a diverse knowledge of music styles and percussion, I am able to use whatever is needed to bring a song to life.
Our service works like this:
- The client contacts myself or Brad expressing interest in getting drum tracks done for their song/songs.
- We will, up front, work out the budget depending on the number of songs the artist wants recorded, our price is listed below.
- We work together with the artist to come up with the ideas for the song/songs.
These will include:
- Do they want a full kit?
- Do they want brushes or sticks?
- Are they hearing any percussion?
- What tempo are the songs?
- Is there a demo done, and is it to a click?
- Do they use Pro-tools?
- What program do they use?
- What format do they want the tracks sent back in?
I will definitely make a good judgment call on the parts, we just need to know if the artist wants the song to go in a certain direction.
- The artist will send us their demo via email/post on a server. Include any charts, notes or suggestions you might have.
- We will arrange a day and time if the artist wants to listen, watch and participate in the session via the internet (just like being in the control room). A Live Audio Stream and AIM Communication can be provided for real time monitoring of the session. This can serve as a more interactive involvement in the sessions outcome.
- The song will be tracked to the artists specification, with extra overdubs for options.
- The tracks will be recorded, edited, and samples of the kit being used will be provided in the session.
- All of the tracks will be posted on a server for the artist to retrieve. They will be in whatever format the artist specified in the initial consult.
- We will contact the artist to make sure they received everything properly. We will also send them our credit list if these tracks are to be on an album. This includes our names, the studio name and endorsing products used.
Our fee for this service is $175.00/song, to be paid in advance of the session. We are able to negotiate this price if the artist sends more than 5 songs. This fee is very reasonable as it includes the studio time, an engineer, a drummer/percussionist, complete album ready drum tracks and extra overdubs. We also guarantee our work as Brad and myself are very particular with our own musical performance, we WILL play the song like it is our own !
